Johnson & Sons Paving Earns Patriot Award for “Extraordinary” Support of Guard & Reserve

Johnson & Sons Paving was recently presented with a Patriot Award from the Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR).  The award recognizes the company’s  “extraordinary support of one of their employees serving in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.”

Johnson & Sons was nominated for this prestigious national award by one of its employees, Specialist Matthew Ernst; a member of the Wisconsin Army National Guard assigned to the 32nd MP Company, Milwaukee WI.  In his nomination form,  Ernst noted that the company has been “extremely supportive of my military career,” and goes “above and beyond to support myself and my family while I’m away for training or deployment. ”

The Patriot Award is presented to employers who not only hire Guard and Reserve members but demonstrate “superior support to the military employee and his/her family.” 

“On behalf of the entire Johnson & Sons team,  we are honored to accept this award.” said Jason Johnson, company president.  “I’m amazed that Matt took the time to nominate us while he was putting in the hours here and preparing for deployment to Afghanistan.  We are proud of Matt and all those who serve.  That’s why we will continue to create a welcoming and accommodating culture for our nation’s service men and women here at Johnson & Sons Paving.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States. ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employers’ principal advocate within DoD.
