Job Description:

We’re looking for an experienced, results-driven Asphalt Paving Foreman to join our fast-growing asphalt and concrete paving company serving businesses, organizations, and residents throughout Southern Wisconsin. At Johnson and Sons Paving, we pride ourselves on efficiency, accuracy, and quality, which means we need an Asphalt Paving Foreman that can effectively communicate with their crews, our trucking team, and our clients to ensure successful completion of paving projects.

Experience Requirements:

Eligible candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a foreman and will have a deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of commercial, residential, and municipal paving processes and best practices. We are a union company signatory to the Operating Engineers local 139. As our new Asphalt Paving Foreman, you will receive top pay, union-lead benefits, and a union-lead pension.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As our new Asphalt Paving Foreman, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing a nine-person paving crew
  • Correctly and quickly calculating tonnage
  • Routinely meeting specific yields for each project
  • Accurately submitting hours and daily job totals (tonnages, times, and trucking)
  • Effectively communicating with plant operators and truck drivers throughout the day
  • Ensuring each project is finished in a timely fashion
  • Maintaining our high standard of quality for each and every job, regardless of size

  • 10’ Vogele Super2003-3i
  • Leeboy 8515E
  • Vogele Super 700 Path Paver

We are looking to hire an experienced Concrete Finisher who can expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including sidewalks, curbs and gutters, stairs, and flatwork. You may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joins, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.

To be a successful Concrete Finisher, you must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology. you should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.

Responsibilities

  • Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
  • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
  • Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
  • Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed.
    This includes handheld tools and power tool versions.
  • Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
  • Applying sealing and hardening components.
  • Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
  • Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.

You’ll work outside in the elements and help out with seal coating, prep work, cleanup work, directing truck traffic and more. Job Summary

Responsible to and under the direction of the owner. The Shop Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining the shop and all equipment (both diesel and other). Equipment may include but not limited to trucks, front-end loaders, dozers, graders, pavers, mills, compactors, snow blowers and other pieces of equipment. The Shop Mechanic will also clean, maintain and secure all equipment according to safety and maintenance regulations, policies and procedures and OSHA.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying  worn and damaged parts and repairing accordingly
  • Correct all vehicle deficiencies
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine safety and combustion control standards
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting as needed
  • Maintains all vehicle records
  • Keeps all shop equipment operating in safe condition
  • Operates all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way
  • Performs required daily safety and maintenance checks and adhere to all safety and maintenance regulations
  • Review and understand all equipment and safety operations manuals
  • Participate in safety meetings and crew meetings
  • Consistently use all personal and field safety protection equipment
  • Ensures heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Conducts on site safety rounds
  • Contain costs of repair by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options
  • Keeps shop in clean and orderly condition
  • Complete other work as assigned
  • Consistently follow all Policies and Procedures contained in the Employee Handbook
  • Any other duties as assigned by Johnson and Son’s Paving or direct supervisor

Education
