Johnson and Sons Paving of Menomonee Falls, WI is looking for a well-rounded HR professional to establish an HR strategy and manage HR operations for 80+ employees. This is a competitively salaried position with full benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(K) with match.
We are looking for an innovative Human Resource Manager to develop and implement sound HR practices, cultivate a unique workplace culture, and empower our company to achieve our ambitious business goals. Union, benefit negotiation and safety experience is a must!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Be a coach/advocate and business partner to our owner and the leadership team
- Actively manage employee relations and facilitate the process between employees and leadership to discuss/resolve issues
- Determine best strategies/actions for hiring and retaining employees
- Analyze/implement employee training and development strategy
- Drive consistent application of employment policies and employee development by reviewing management actions; advising managers; reviewing disciplinary, appraisal, and counseling actions
- Direct and coordinate recruiting, selection, and onboarding of new employees
- Administer core HR processes: oversee payroll functions; administer and implement insurance benefits; conduct performance appraisals; and build compensation objectives
- Promote employee engagement and incentive plans to drive a values-based performance culture
- Manage and maintain company 401(k) plan including audits, remittances, and reporting
- Calculate and remit union benefits on a monthly basis

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Business with an emphasis in HR/ B.S. Degree in Human Resource
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR Laws and regulations
- 2+ years of HR experience and/ or training within the construction environment
- Experience with unions/union employees
- Benefit negotiation and implementation experience
- Experience in ADP payroll administration or similar
- LCP Tracking and other certified payroll reporting
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with leadership and employees
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered

We’re looking for an experienced Paving Operator to join our asphalt crew this summer! We’re booking out fast and we’ll need someone who can effectively manage large-scale commercial and residential jobs. As our new Paving Operator, you’ll get great pay and comprehensive benefits, but you’ll also get weekends off with plenty of opportunity for overtime during the week! We are looking to hire an experienced Concrete Finisher who can expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including sidewalks, curbs and gutters, stairs, and flatwork. You may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joins, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.
To be a successful Concrete Finisher, you must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology. you should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.
Responsibilities
- Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
- Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
- Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
- Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed.
This includes handheld tools and power tool versions. - Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
- Applying sealing and hardening components.
- Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
- Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.
Experience not required, as we’ll train the right person who has a strong work ethic, is dependable and is a team player. You’ll work outside in the elements and help out with seal coating, prep work, cleanup work, directing truck traffic and more. You’ll average 60-70 hours per week. during the season, including some late nights and occasional weekends and get paid time & a half for overtime!
We’re looking for experienced line stripers to join our residential and commercial crews this summer to help paint guide lines on roadways, parking lots, sport courts, and more! You’ll be a part of everything associated with asphalt sealing and marking. With our options for on-site training, you’ll have the opportunity to learn new skills and take advantage of our internal promotions!
New to paving? That’s okay! We’re looking for a few people to join our seal coating team this summer! We’re ready to train eager candidates on-site to give our asphalt pavements that fresh-as-new look! You’ll get to learn our trade with some of the best in the business while making great money!
