There’s no question its been a brutal winter for paved surfaces with rapid change in temperatures, record bitter cold, freezing rain, thaws and refreezing.  It’s the type of weather than can weaken asphalt significantly and reduce the life expectancy of your asphalt parking lot or driveway.

The good news?  If your parking lot was installed properly your problems should be minimal.  If it wasn’t,  make sure you give us a call to schedule your repairs/maintenance as soon as weather permits.  Especially if you notice any of the following:  potholes, storm drain issues, very large cracking or alligator cracking.

Storm drain issues should be fixed as soon as possible to prevent more serious damage

When you’re inspecting your paved surfaces, also make note of the line striping for parking spaces and ADA compliance.  If you regularly use a deicing material, your pavement markings can fade or disappear entirely.   To prevent potential lawsuits and keep your parking lot safe,  you’ll want to make sure you consult with a reputable commercial asphalt contractor to review the ADA areas that need to be addressed before you proceed with striping or re-striping your lot.
