We’re looking for an experienced, results-driven Asphalt Paving Foreman to join our fast-growing asphalt and concrete paving company serving businesses, organizations, and residents throughout Southern Wisconsin. At Johnson and Sons Paving, we pride ourselves on efficiency, accuracy, and quality, which means we need an Asphalt Paving Foreman that can effectively communicate with their crews, our trucking team, and our clients to ensure successful completion of paving projects.
Experience Requirements:
Eligible candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a foreman and will have a deep knowledge and understanding of all aspects of commercial, residential, and municipal paving processes and best practices. We are a union company signatory to the Operating Engineers local 139. As our new Asphalt Paving Foreman, you will receive top pay, union-lead benefits, and a union-lead pension.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As our new Asphalt Paving Foreman, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing a nine-person paving crew
- Correctly and quickly calculating tonnage
- Routinely meeting specific yields for each project
- Accurately submitting hours and daily job totals (tonnages, times, and trucking)
- Effectively communicating with plant operators and truck drivers throughout the day
- Ensuring each project is finished in a timely fashion
- Maintaining our high standard of quality for each and every job, regardless of size

- 10’ Vogele Super2003-3i
- Leeboy 8515E
- Vogele Super 700 Path Paver

We are seeking an experienced Striping Foreman to join our growing operations team. In this role, you will manage and supervise a crew responsible for applying pavement markings—such as lines and symbols—on private roads, parking lots, and other surfaces. You will ensure that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with all specifications. This is a supervisory role with direct responsibility for the striping crew.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct striping team members; assign tasks and monitor performance
- Review project specifications and estimate material needs
- Coordinate with the Scheduler to ensure efficient project execution
- Inspect striping applications for consistency, coverage, and quality standards
- Operate and maintain striping equipment, including trucks
- Enforce pre-trip inspections before equipment leaves the company lot
- Ensure all crew members adhere to safety protocols on the job site
- Maintain clear communication with project managers, the Scheduler, and other stakeholders regarding project status and potential issues
- Notify the Owner when striping materials need to be reordered to prevent shortages or waste
- Complete all edge striping, line striping, and paint curbs and messages as assigned
- Ensure all equipment, including paint, is safely and securely stored
- Read and follow blueprints and/or sketches
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven leadership and supervisory abilities
- Solid understanding of construction safety practices
- Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance

This is a full-time, seasonal position, dependent on weather and workload. The role typically spans 5–6 months per year and may require work on weekdays, nights, and weekends.

We are looking to hire an experienced Concrete Finisher who can expertly pour, level, and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including sidewalks, curbs and gutters, stairs, and flatwork. You may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joins, and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high-quality finish.
To be a successful Concrete Finisher, you must possess the skills necessary for the trade and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology. you should also be physically fit and be able to stand for long periods of time, work on your knees, lift heavy materials, and work outdoors in high heat and cold weather.
Responsibilities
- Setting forms that hold the concrete in place.
- Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.
- Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver.
- Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed.
This includes handheld tools and power tool versions. - Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process.
- Applying sealing and hardening components.
- Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted.
- Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.

We’re looking for an experienced, result-driven an Asphalt Paving Project & Sales Manager to join our fast-growing commercial and residential paving business serving Southern Wisconsin. At Johnson and Sons Paving, we pride ourselves on efficiency, accuracy, and quality, which means we need a Construction Project Manager that effectively communicate with our crews, sales people, and clients to ensure successful completion of large-scale projects.
This position is salaried and includes commission based on experience with full benefits including comprehensive health insurance, life insurance, paid holiday, PTO, and opportunities for professional development and advancement.
As our new Asphalt Paving Project & Sales Manager, you will be responsible for selling, planning, and supervising a wide of range construction projects from start to finish. On an average day, you’ll look for new sales leads, nurture existing relationships, organize and oversee construction procedures to ensure they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. You’ll need to be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with business owners, engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to determine project specifications and details.
- Effectively negotiating contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
- Successfully obtaining permits and licenses from all appropriate authorities.
- Routinely determining needed resources such as manpower, equipment, and materials, from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
- Thoroughly planning all construction operations and scheduling intermediate phases to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Acquiring the appropriate equipment and materials while monitoring stocks to handle inadequacies in a timely manner.
- Supervising the work of laborers and providing guidance whenever needed.
- Regularly evaluating project progress to prepare detailed reports.
- Managing and leading necessary actions when delays, bad weather, or emergencies occur at construction sites.
- Ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards and reporting and issues.
- Readily performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proven experience as construction project manager.
- An in-depth understanding of construction procedures along with material and project management principles.
- A familiarity with and dedication to quality, health, and safety standards.
- Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite.

Education & Experience:
Our new Asphalt Paving Project & Sales Manager should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience with a proven track record. We’re also looking for candidates who have at least five years of construction project management experience.

We’re looking for experienced Grader Operators to join our skilled commercial and residential paving crews! Skid loader experience and a CDL are a huge plus! Our teams work Monday through Friday with overtime and no weekends so you can enjoy the summer!
As one of our new Grader Operators, you’ll work with our other crewmembers to apply base materials for residential and commercial asphalt paving projects. We require keen attention to detail for this position, to ensure you uphold our high standard for quality and customer experience. You must be able to read and understand grade stakes and plans.
